    OT,

    Have you heard anything about this? Sounds like some contractor not following procedures for welding on subs and carrier's.

    I haven't but thanks for the info. Let's see how far they can sweep this under the rug. I won't get started on government contractors.

    I've not been back to this site for some time now...and just checking in today.

    Yes..I've heard about this and it is not at the Norfolk Navy yard...

    What I am picking up on is that the Navy is desperately trying to beef up the fleet....for future plans....and this could not have happened at a worse time.

    Bad welds are not good on a surface ship for sure ..but particuarly bad on a submarine.

    Yes..I know about it and have heard briefings on it..as well.

    I know that people have been fired over this ....incident and some may face charges...

    Welding procedures are very very strict on certain types of metals...and not upon which to be deviated.
