Interesting idea, if I am following correctly. Do you have a cocktail napkin sketch that you can add to clarify a couple things? upload to photobucket and copy/paste the image code into your text.

    Sounds really interesting!!

In addition to a pull cart, would there be any reason why two riders couldn't use the set up to traverse?
I hadn't considered the matter... I am that grimmest of preppers, the solo. The Mormon cart idea, coupled with modern materials already partly assembled, appealed to me, well-hammered thumbs and all.

I'll have a sketch in the next 24-48 hours.

My design only dropped the drive train, not lost it altogether. When one is gotten and established at their destination, the framework unbolts. No welds. Restore the pedal crank and chain, reattach the handlebars, and voila! beach cruiser.

As to multiple pedaling, side by side would have way too much torque from the least difference in pedaling speeds. In-line would be preferable, I think.

    Appreciating your interest,

I wonder if some kind of pedal system like this could be set up...

Give a man fire, and he'll be warm for a day!
Light a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life!

    Cat's are food... not friends!

If you're going to fight, then fight like you're the third monkey on the ramp into Noah's arc... and brother, it's starting to rain.

    Mama told me NO!

I have been toying with the idea of a road bike which would serve as dual purpose. I saw one of these bikes at the SHOT show this year and they are built like a brick shit house. BUT they are pricey at $1,500. The thing I like about them is they are designed to be abused and still hold up.

Fuji and Cannondale also make bikes, I just have to figure out which one and how much I can afford.

    Update:

w7's version of mspaint ate my sketch.

Given the further commentary my idea received, perhaps as well.

    I remain

    salvaged

The sketch of my cart... stick figures, yes, but should convey the meaning. NOT to scale, and the nitpickers are invited to be elsewhere. Black is the basic frame , red will be the bolted on stock.

I only have one nit to pick, in that I think you'll need a X-brace from the axles to the seat posts to keep it stable.

    IMO

and it looks heavy duty, I'm sure you'll be able to pile a bunch on there!

I'm still very confused. Is this a vehicle to ride in or on, or a cart to push?
