friend of mine just passed his Technician license test.

A friend of mine just passed his technician class license test. He has purchased a Yaesu walkie talkie as well as a Baofeng HT....and I have pogrammed some of the 2 meter frequencies as well as some 70 CM frequencies into his Baofeng HT.

Also some GMRS/FRS frequencies as well as some MURS frequencies.

He should get his notice in about a week or two...for his Technician class ticket.

He also took the General class while he was there and did not pass. Now at least he has hands on experience on what is coming in the general class ticket..and test for the same.

I have a home made J pole antenna made for him when he gets his ticket. We will put it up with a fishing rod...into the trees where he lives. Anything should be more efficient than those rubber duckie antennas which come with most of the walkie talkies.

Looking foreward to catching him on 2 meters and 70 CM bands...and eventually on the HF bands when he gets his general ticket.

    Thanks,

I recommend ordering the General test flash cards from HRO. Two months of going thru those damn things til I could about do them in my sleep. And both hardcopy and electronic versions of Part 97.

I did not know that they had flash cards.

I studied years ago by using the Radio Shack books. Took the General and Advanced test in the same testing session. Did not even have a HF rig for months after passing the Advanced test.

Thanks and 73 to the board,
